It was a very great
pleasure to be invited, to celebrate the marriage of Tessa Huyshe
and Marcus Allum at St Mary’s Church Beenham, on 29 November.
It was a fairytale occasion, the church lit by candlelight and
naturally a very heavy accent on bellringing. The bride had
a delicate luminous pre-Raphaelite aura, in a shimmering cream
gown with cream roses in the ringlets of her swept up hair.
|
| Tessa
carried cream roses with delicate bronze calla lilies. The cream
and bronze theme was reflected in all the decorations in the
church, as well as at the reception, which was held in a half
timbered barn, which dates back at least to 1705 and possibly
earlier than that

Marcus is the tower
captain of Beenham church ,and is also Chairman of the Newbury
Branch of the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Bellringers. Various
ringers, including Maureen Tarbox and Mark Brock from East Garston,
rang a 3 hour peal during the morning of the wedding day. Before
and after the service, a variety of wedding guests including
Marcus’ father, brother and sister rang, as well as Marcus
and Tessa themselves for a short while after they were wed.
The tower being at the west end of the church, with the ringing
chamber on ground floor level, the guests were happily able
to view all this. |

Tessa came to live
in East Garston in 2005 and very quickly learned to bellring.
She has been active in our church in many ways since, and has
taken a leading part in bellringing exhibitions and presentations
in both 2006 and 2007. Tessa also sang and read during the "Gift
Weekend" concert of 2006. Her organisational flair was
probably most evident when Radio Berkshire asked at 2 days notice,
if Charlie’s Challenge could come to East Garston tower.
Tessa swung into action in a most professional manner–
everything was completed on time, with no detail spared. So
it was no surprise to me that the organisation of their marriage
service and their wedding reception was immaculate
